India's governing party has chosen a controversial Hindu religious leader known for anti-Muslim rhetoric as the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the country's most populous state.

Names of more union ministers, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani and Kalraj Mishra, Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma, national BJP spokesperson Shrikant Sharma and Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath are doing rounds for the state's top post.

Earlier, BLP registered a historic victory in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. "What's more, Chotey Maharaj's spartan lifestyle matches that of the Prime Minister", said a senior BJP leader.

"Hindutva won, Hindus won, No place for seculars now; Jai Shri Ram" exulted one of them.

Alexa is invading the iPhone - but not in the way you'd hope
Inside of the Amazon App for iOS , there will be a microphone icon near the top of the screen that you can press to call up Alexa. Whilst that is an inconvenience for Alexa devotees, it's still a big triumph for Amazon to get Alexa onto a whole new platform .

Naidu also said that on the request of Adityanath, BJP's central leadership has chose to nominate Sharma and Maurya as deputy chief ministers. With this, neither the Chief Minister-designate or either of his deputies are from among the 312 elected BJP MLAs. BJP leaders said the unprecedented triumph paved the way for the party's initiatives on good governance, public welfare and alleviation of poor. "Terrorism - wrong. Hindus hitting back at Muslims for terrorism - right". But is was not his skills with numbers that impressed BJP chief Amit Shah during the 2014 General Elections.

Adityanath's appointment to lead Uttar Pradesh was denounced by opposition party members. Five-time MP from Gorakhpur, he is head of two dozen educational institutions, besides being the President of 17 organisations and secretary of 26 institutions, mostly schools, colleges, nursing and medical colleges etc. Interestingly elections in all these constituencies were held because BJP MLAs had become MPs. Adityanath and 130 others were arrested on the spot. The meeting, which was supposed to begin at 5 pm on Saturday, began nearly half an hour late and was overseen by Naidu and senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav.

Union Minister of State for Telecom Manoj Sinha is the front-runner, but he too appeared in a denial mode on Friday much like Home Minister Rajnath Singh who told reporters in Parliament that he neither knows about "any race nor is he in the race". The second criminal case was registered when Adityanath and his Vahini laid siege to the town in January 2007, burning mosques, houses, buses and trains, claiming that the Gorakhnath temple had been attacked.
