A military spokesman on Monday refuted Indian claims the Pakistani troops committed ceasefire violation along the Line of Control and killed two Indian soldiers.

According to Parikh, the Pakistani side used automatic weapons and fired rockets targeting the operational party.

The statement termed it "an un-soldierly act".

It was still not known if landmines had indeed been planted in the area. Army spokesperson, Col Manish, said, "The Army received inputs from local intelligence about mines being laid by Pak troops near the LoC. Prime Minister Modi ji, the Army and soldiers have free hand to do what they deem appropriate", Kohli told ANI.

Another BSF jawan was injured in the firing. Its primary task is to dominate the LoC by carrying out disruptive actions in the form of surreptitious raids.

The incident happened in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Their bodies were badly mutilated", the official said. It triggered the Kargil war.

"Under fire from Pakistan, Indian soldiers would have taken cover breaking the formation".

BAT refers to "Border Action Team".

On April 19, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire in Poonch. One body was mutilated.

The Modi government and political parties today roundly criticised Pakistan for the beheading of two Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir, with a BJP lawmaker insisting that "same treatment" be meted out to the Pakistani army.

"Another constable from the BSF also sustained injury, but is out of danger", the BSF spokesman added. His body was found beheaded after a few days.

Rebel groups have been fighting since 1989 for Indian-controlled Kashmir's independence or merger with Pakistan. They attacked a 10-man Indian patrol comprising soldiers from 22 Sikh Regiment and the BSF.
