Durant scores 38 points, Warriors beat Jazz to take 3-0 lead

Jan Ortega | 11 May, 2017, 07:53

On the next possession, Kevin Durant - scorching hot most of the night - went a simpler route to shove his dagger.

What they couldn't do was stop Durant.

In most Warriors wins it is commonplace for the entirety of the starting rotation to finish with double digit scoring.

The total has gone over in four of Golden State's last five games on the road. The Warriors, meanwhile, gained a risky dimension to their offense, largely immunizing it from the shooting funks that occasionally envelop it.

Curry, who was 4-of-18 through three quarters before draining both his shots in the fourth, took note of Durant's rhythm. Although ideally the Utah will want to claim two home victories in Games 3 and 4 to stretch the game to Game 7. Since a win might mean another lengthy rest period the Dubs goal should be to focus on refining all aspects of their game.

The Jazz played their best game of the series by far. After chirping at a courtside fan, who among other things was screaming about Durant's "legacy", Durant zipped to one of his favorite spots - 15 feet out, near the elbow - and sunk another 15-footer, putting the Warriors up 11 with 2:09 left. Game 4 is this evening in Washington. The Jazz simply don't have enough to keep up. It allowed the Jazz to take a lead into half-time and gave them as much as a nine-point lead in the third quarter.

Utah Jazz Game 3 (live stream online and score below) of the Western Conference semifinals resumes tonight with the GSW leading the series 2-0 in the 2017 National Basketball Association playoffs.

Durant shot 15-of-26 from the field, including a team-high four 3-pointers.

The Jazz found an offensive spark early in the second quarter. Despite the fact that the Jazz trail 0-3, they are still getting into a rhythm against a new team. Justin Rowan poised the Jazz as "the biggest threat" to dethrone the Warriors.

"Obviously, they are great players and are going to make plays". The furious Warriors forward began barking into ear of official Bennie Adams and had to be pulled aside by Stephen Curry. The Utah Jazz are shooting 37.2 percent from beyond the arc and 72.9 percent from the free throw line.

It counteracted Utah's effectiveness in limiting its own turnovers and taking away Golden State's chances for transition baskets for much of the game. The Warriors won the battle of the boards 51-42. At one point, Durant had 27 points and no other Warrior had more than seven. Finally, Draymond Green had an under-the-radar good game, despite a lackluster night from the field. It took a little longer than usual, but his "Welcome to the playoffs" breakout was yet another reminder that the still-undefeated Warriors have more go-to options than anybody.

Oubre, 21, averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game for the Wizards this season.

Curry played better in the second half to help Durant carry Golden State's offense, but finishing with 23 points on just 6-20 shooting.

The Jazz can start making vacation plans. Gordon Hayward dropped 29 points in addition to six assists.

Warriors: Andre Iguodala played his 100th playoff game. The Jazz again played without Hill. Golden State will look to share the rock with everyone to a fault, ignoring that they're at their best if Curry is the driving force.

After struggling in Game 1, Rudy Gobert has put together two solid performances. Joe Johnson has disappeared after being a huge cog for the Jazz in Round One.

Jazz had hoped a return to its home floor would spark a resurgence, and it briefly looked as if it had.
