Approximately 80 officers and deputies are searching a South Pasadena park on Thursday morning for evidence on the whereabouts of a five-year-old boy who's been missing since last month, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The boy, Aramazd Andressian Jr., was first reported missing on April 22 by his mother, Ana Estevez, who said that she was supposed to meet him and his father for a scheduled drop off. Estevez and the father, Aramazd Andressian Sr., are separated and share custody of the child.

In April, Aramazd Andressian Sr. failed to show up to a prearranged meeting site to return the boy to his mother.

Andressian Sr. allegedly told investigators he had taken medication that was not prescribed to him on April 22, the day he and his son went to Arroyo Seco Park in South Pasadena before a custody exchange, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza said.

Detectives revealed Wednesday that the father acknowledged taking prescription pills and was found in a auto doused with gasoline, alongside a pack of matches.

Andressian Sr. was briefly held on charges of child endangerment and child abduction, but was released on lack of evidence.

Earlier, investigators searched for clues in Orange County, where they think Aramazd had gone to Disneyland with his father. The money is for information that will lead to the arrest and/or conviction of the person or persons involved in hiding or kidnapping Aramazd "Piqui" Andressian Jr. The boy's father was later discovered unconscious at the park and the boy was nowhere to be found. The lieutenant didn't identify the drug and declined to say whose pills they were.

"He's a free man and we are not surveilling him", Mendoza said.

Mendoza said a gas can and matches were also found in the vehicle. His gray BMW had been doused with gasoline.

Mendoza would not say where the tip came from but did say "it was credible based on the information we have in the investigation".

Sheriff's Capt. Chris Bergner said the weekend the child disappeared that his father's statements had "been convoluted and not consistent". "The matter remains under investigation".

The boy's mother contacted police at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 22 to report her son missing.

A reward from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for information that helps authorities locate the child was doubled Tuesday to $20,000.

Aramazd was last seen about 8 a.m.

Andressian Jr. was last seen by his mother on April 18 on a Skype video call from an unknown location, South Pasadena police said.

However, authorities said there haven't been verified sightings of Andressian Jr.at Arroyo Park or Cachuma Lake Recreation Area. He was last seen wearing a plaid shirt and plaid shorts and has a small mole on the bottom of his right shoulder.
