Witches criticize Trump for 'witch hunt' claim

Roland Mccarthy | 20 May, 2017, 09:43

"Look at the way I've been treated lately, especially by the media", he said.

"What you're seeing in the news is a WITCH HUNT", said a fundraising solicitation seeking $1 donations.

Responding to US President Donald Trump's claim that he is a victim of the "witch hunt", Florida Senator Macro Rubio said that the former is entitled to his opinion, but the United States is a "nation of laws".

The Justice Department has appointment Robert Mueller, as a special counsel to lead the federal investigation into the Trump campaign links with Moscow to sway the 2016 election. "But the entire thing has been a witch hunt".

"This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

"As the Representative of Salem, MA, I can confirm that this is false", Moulton tweeted.

'Please stop referring to Trump as a "witch".

"The Salem witch hunt has always been used exactly the way President Trump used it", Mary Beth Norton, the author of "In the Devil's Snare: The Salem Witchcraft Crisis of 1692", told the Atlantic Thursday.

Rep. Moulton was applauded for the tweet, which has been liked over 353,000 times.

As with Trump speeches and tweet storms, the language is decidedly divisive and un-presidential, but not dissimilar to a hunkered-down Richard Nixon 43 years ago.

Trump is responding to the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to lead a probe of allegations that Trump's campaign collaborated with Russian Federation to sway the election.

Trump also interrupted a reporter during a press conference Thursday who attempted to ascertain whether he had asked FBI Director James Comey to drop his investigation before firing him.

The White House says an investigation will prove there was no collusion.
