Infected terminals seized up, displaying only a terse one-page ransom demand which users must pay to have access restored to their machine.

Friday's attack has reignited the debate over whether or not governments should disclose vulnerabilities they have discovered or bought on the black market.

By Friday afternoon, 16 National Health Service (NHS) facilities reported that they were affected by the cyberattack. The discovery caused Renault to temporary shut down their factories in France.

In its latest update on the cyberattack, Europol said it was the largest ransomware attack observed in history.

Officials across the globe scrambled to catch the culprits behind a massive ransomware worm that disrupted operations at vehicle factories, hospitals, shops and schools, while Microsoft pinned blame on the U.S. government for not disclosing more software vulnerabilities.

WannaCry infected hundreds of thousands of computers over the weekend, including those of Britain's healthcare system and some computers in New Zealand. If anyone is going to be sued, legal experts are saying that it will be the victimized companies.

Stock exchanges - the BSE and the NSE - have advised trading members to undertake "appropriate actions" tackle any threat from the ransomware WannaCry, which has hit computers and networks across the world.

"Our banks may be affected in a couple of hours". Payments could go up as the ransomware warned the cost would double after three days, and threatened to delete files within seven days if no payment was made.

It's always been said it's generally safer to use a Mac, simply by the virtue of there being fewer in the world meaning hackers can't be bothered to make viruses targeting them. Infections are not yet apparent but numbers are likely to rise as the workweek starts on Monday. The hacking tool at work was originally developed by the U.S. National Security Agency, before it leaked online earlier this year. Korea Internet and Security Agency reports that those include several local firms as well. Microsoft issued a security update in March that stops WannaCry and other malware in Windows 7. Activating the domain worked as a kill switch for the malware. The cyber criminals have demanded a fee of about United States dollars 300 in crypto-currencies like Bitcoin for unlocking the device. Despite the attack being widespread, it's estimated that only about $32,000 were raised by the hackers.
