What's more, Wonder Woman is now holds the title of one of the highest grossing opening weekends for a solo-superhero debut, beating Iron Man and falling just short of Deadpool, Man of Steel and Spider-Man.

Warner Bros. revised revised the film's weekend estimate up to $103.1 million U.S. from its earlier figure of $100.5 million US.

Wonder Woman was also number one in the United Kingdom, earning £6.18m over the weekend.

The movie is directed by Patty Jenkins and features Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick, Robin Wright as Antiope and Danny Huston as Ludendorff.
