Police found the body Tuesday morning and said the remains were so badly decomposed that they couldn't immediately determine the victim's gender.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department said Jason Quate's wife told police on Monday that she had been sex trafficked by him for the last two years. She has not been charged with a crime in Las Vegas.

Police said Jason Quate's wife told them he killed their 6-year-old daughter in IL and then forced her into prostitution.

Alyssa was the youngest of three girls, each born 16 months apart, according to her maternal grandmother Christine O'Dell.

A spokeswoman for the Clark County district attorney says a separate child abuse charge against Quate is pending. "Their social skills were very non-age-appropriate". Quate has not been charged in his daughter's death. His bail was set at $23,000 cash on the previous charges.

Quate was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he now faces charges of sex trafficking of an adult and accept/receive earnings of a prostitute. The mother was in the alley and came up to Denison and told her to "stay ... out of their business".

That neighbor also said that the couple never owned a auto so she can't figure out how the body got from their house in Belleville to Centreville. There, local authorities found the body of the girl in a bin, with some cat litter.

Quate's wife alerted authorities about the body on June 5th after she sought refuge at a women's shelter. They found the two children, who showed signs of abuse and neglect, and took Quate into custody.

Belleville police will be going to Las Vegas as part of the investigation into the child's death.

Quate declined an interview request on Thursday from The Associated Press. A Las Vegas woman told investigators Tuesday that her dead child had been in a southern IL home for two years, and authorities later found human remains in the vacant house, according to authorities.

"She told us during the course of that interview that during a physical altercation, one of the children had died as a result of her husband", Spencer said.

Quate told KSNV-TV in Las Vegas that he believed his wife put the 6-year-old up for adoption years ago. She said her husband had forced her into sex trafficking for two years.

Ritter reported from Las Vegas. The coroner in St. Clair County said an autopsy was planned. "Because that's the version she wanted me to say". I've never harmed her and forced her to do this.

The neighbor says to her it was Quate's wife that made her worry.
