IPhone Turns 10: A Look at the Past, Present and Future IPhone Turns 10: A Look at the Past, Present and Future

It's a phone. without a keyboard? At the time Apple was finalizing the iPhone design in 2006, its market cap was $79.54 billion and it reported revenue for that year of $19.32 billion.

And by today's standards, the first iPhone's 3.5-inch screen seems tiny, considering how its screen real estate has now expanded by two inches.

June 7, 2010: Apple iPhone 4 launched. "It was behind the other phones with Edge so it wasn't meant to play videos and it couldn't record videos". The iPhone 4 received much praise, particularly due to the improvement in style with a body of stainless steel and glass. Or have you shunned Apple products since long before Steve Jobs threw the company into the telecommunications game?

"Its impact is huge", Tuong Nguyen, principal research analyst at Gartner told NBC News.

The folks over at OnLeaks and Tiger Mobiles claim to have gotten their hands on an iPhone 8 dummy unit.

June 9, 2008: Apple announces the successor to the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G.

"You can nearly argue they eclipsed themselves in that sense", Nguyen said. Firstly they were cheap, and for the first time they came up with the colourful versions of iPhone 5C.

The first test was a drop test so the handsets both landed on their glass screens.

One of the main reasons behind all this hype is that Apple's iPhone turned 10 this year. New designs alternating with new hardware and extra features.

Equipped with a stylus and touchscreen, the phone wasn't exactly a looker and it was never released to market, but it's interesting to see evidence of the process behind the creation of Apple's revolutionary device. They became portable computers we rely on every day. Here is a brief retelling of the last ten years and a glimpse of what's to come in the next generation.

"The strategy that we're seeing is that Apple is going in with the smaller or the older iPhones that are significantly less costly to produce", he said.

In five years, the app economy will be worth $6.3 trillion, according to a report from App Annie, as more people continue to spend money on and within apps. Earlier, leaked images of the alleged iPhone 8 cases also confirm that the smartphone is very unlikely to feature a rear-mounted TouchID as it was rumored earlier.

The chart above shows Apple's share of the global smartphone market in 1Q17 compared with that of rivals such as Samsung (SSNLF) and Huawei. Apple will have the most expensive phone, by far, in the marketplace. His model has Apple earning $13.20 a share on $292 billion in revenue in fiscal 2022, comfortably ahead of the $8.74-per-share profit on $221 billion in revenue that he's targeting for this year.
