A great number of world football stars graced the wedding ceremony of Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, who married his childhood sweetheart, Antonela Roccuzzo yesterday, June 30, 2017.

About 250 guests attended the marriage of Messi and brunette beauty Antonella at the City Centre luxury hotel and Casino, where they were serenaded by famous Argentine singer, Abel Pintos.

Messi made a decision to hold his wedding to his longtime childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo at a luxury hotel, inviting several of his equally famed Barcelona teammates: Neymar, Gerard Pique and his pop-star wife Shakira, and Luis Suarez.

In contrast to the more modest upbringings of Messi, Roccuzzo grew up in the middle-class neighborhood of Rosario, according to an anonymous friend quoted by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Mariano Andujar, Pablo Zabaleta, Maxi Rodriguez and Gonzalo Higuain, among others from the Argentinian national team were also present at the wedding.

More than 150 journalists are also expected to cover the event, which will take place at 7pm local time.

A private security firm was contracted to keep gatecrashers at a distance.

The bride's stunning dress, which featured a heart-shaped lace back and a sweeping train, was crafted by famed Spanish designer Rosa Clara.

The pair already have two children together and have known each other since the age of five.

Messi and his wife-to-be met in Rosario and have been inseparable since.

The entire area was closed off for the public for the duration of the wedding.
