When officers arrived at the home on Emory Lane, they found the victims dead. The female suspect and male victim were parents to all of the children, police said.

Police said all the children were under 10, and their father was in his 30s.

There is no known motive at this time, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

"Right now we believe we have everybody involved in this crime", Gwinnett County Police Cpl.

The woman was being interviewed by detectives, Pihera said.

The children's mother was taken into custody, WGCL reported.

The suspect, who moved to the US from Mexico and settled in Loganville several months ago, was reportedly "depressed" about her father dying.

"This is a horrendous crime", Pihera said.

Police say early indications are that a knife was used in the attacks. Deon Washington told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The hospitalized girl was still alive Thursday afternoon, police said in a brief update on the case. The family has lived in the quiet community for three or four months, according to neighbor Jim Hollandsworth, who works at an after-school program the children had attended.

Neighbors say the family was relatively new to the neighborhood.

A man at the scene identified himself as the killed father's brother.
