Trump's six-month approval rating falls to a record low

He brushed off an ABC/Washington Post poll over the weekend showing his approval rating down at 36 percent.

In the Trump "surge counties" (for example: Carbon, Pa., where Trump won 65 percent to 31 percent, versus Romney's 53-45 percent margin) - 56 percent of residents approve of the president's job performance. Thirty-six percent said they were "effective", and 21% "refreshing".

President Donald Trump's six-month approval rating is the lowest of any president in the past 70 years.

Nearly half of all Americans (48 per cent) see the country's leadership in the world as weaker since Trump was inaugurated, compared with 27 per cent who say it is stronger.

One week after The New York Times revealed that Donald Trump Jr met with a Russian lawyer to discuss damaging information on Hillary Clinton, Americans are growing more suspicious of the Trump campaign's ties to Moscow.

Trump's standing, at this point in his presidency, is the opposite of Obama's and Bush's, who both enjoyed a 59 percent approval rating at this point in their administrations.

President Donald Trump waves as he arrives at the Elysee Palace in.

However, there was some good news for the president, with 43 percent approving of his handling of the economy (41 percent disapprove).

"Why did Trump cite this poll inaccurately when we can fact-check him so easily?"

It also found 60 per cent of Americans think Russian Federation tried to influence the presidential race, and of those 67 per cent say Trump aides were complicit.

Opinions over Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow-a subject of multiple investigations-divided sharply along partisan lines.

The Republican base is somewhere between 34%-37% of polls; this means that if Trump's numbers continue to drop, it will suggest that Republicans are leaving him.

Obama's worst approval rating was 40 percent, which was recorded during his sixth year in the White House. Almost four in 10 Republicans, 38 percent, say his conduct has been unpresidential rather than "fitting and proper" for a president.

- 24 percent say that, since taking office, Trump has "acted in a way that's fitting and proper for a president of the United States". "Among disapprovers who named issues as their biggest criticism, the most common were immigration (8 percent) and health care (7 percent), the travel ban at 3 percent and others at 2 percent or less".
