After landing a punch in a European exhibition game for Italy, LA Clippersforward Danilo Gallinari suffered a right thumb injury that isn't expected to require surgery, league sources told ESPN.

The incident happened when the two players were lined up for a free throw. He went after Kok and gave him a shove.

The Clippers' new big man might have injured his hand in the process.

But ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Gallinari's injury won't cause him to miss any of the upcoming National Basketball Association season and the Clippers' team doctors still need to evaluate the injury.

The Italian federation announced on Twitter that Gallinari fractured the first metacarpal on his right hand and that the estimated recovery time was 40 days.

The 28-year old forward signed a three-year $65 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier in July as part of a sign-and-trade with the Denver Nuggets. After all, Blake Griffin broke his hand punching an equipment manager.
