Trump's transgender military ban isn't going over very well with Americans

Claim Trump Transgender Ban Made to Stop Spending Fight Trump's transgender military ban isn't going over very well with Americans

The U.S. government will not allow transgender people to serve in the military as the troops have to focus on achieving victory, President Donald Trump said in an announcement on July 26.

Several thousand transgender service members - some of whom are fighting for their nation in war zones, risking their lives - suddenly wondered if they were going to be discharged because of who they are. If by sending out these unexpected tweets Trump was hoping to generate controversy for the goal of deflecting the media focus from his embattled regime, then the US president is not as insane as he looks. Instead, Trump blasted out over Twitter he was instituting a full ban on transgender service members, catching the Pentagon off guard and unaware of what the President meant.

The military should continue to treat all of its courageous soldiers with respect, even if the president does not.

Up until 1948, racial segregation was the official policy of the USA military.

The legal questions raised by President Trump's statements present a key concern for many - especially those now serving in the military.

Evangelical author and public relations consultant Johnnie Moore, who was present at the meeting, said the policy on transgender people serving in the military had not been on the agenda for the meeting, but it was one of many topics that came out throughout the day.

So, what does the military brass think about Trump's decision? At the time, the most common reason for failure was asthma.

As for Trump's allegations that transgender soldiers would be a disrupting factor within their units, one need only take a short walk down memory lane.

Often those being rejected or dismissed would ask, "Isn't there a desk job where I can serve in the rear echelon?" "I know what matters on the battlefield isn't gender identity, it's your character and willingness to serve the country". Every individual in uniform must be able to deploy, fight and win in austere conditions, without any reliance on a daily flow of medications, medical treatment or special provisions.

In fact, Edie, who calls herself a "devout constitutionalist, ' she says she is 'most definitely" pleased with Trump's presidency so far, even though she doesn't agree with everything. Certainly, their desire to serve is laudable. She served 10 years in the military, both in the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. It has a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 3 percentage points for the entire group and 5 percentage points for Democrats and Republicans.

So, it seems caution is prudent. The letter requests that the Senators and Congressmembers join the Attorneys General in opposing President Trump's recent announcement of a policy to ban transgender individuals from the United States Armed Forces.

The vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force Gen. Paul Selva, provided more insight on that decision, saying "Our decision to delay the accessions ... was largely based on a disagreement on the science of how mental-health care and hormone therapy for transgender individuals would help solve the medical issues that are associated with gender dysphoria".

Twitter is not policy, which takes time to change. The stakes are too high to experiment with our national defense or to inadvertently cause harm to those wishing to serve.
