Mumbai: WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight champion Vijender Singh will square off with WBO Oriental Super Middleweight Champion and Chinese number 1 boxer Zulpikar Maimaitiali for a double title fight at NSCI in Mumbai today. The Indian boxing star won his second title and ninth consecutive pro bout as he beat his Chinese opponent on points by unanimous decision in Mumbai on Saturday. The concluding fight of "Battleground Asia" by IOS Boxing Promotions will be preceded by seven more fights of which four will be telecasted live from 6.30 pm onwards. "The bigger challenge for me is to win a world title and defend it", Zulpikar said through an interpreter. He has fought eight bouts until now. "I am experienced.I don't consider him as experienced boxer, he is young, but he is a strong kid and we are ready for it". Hometown hero Vijender Singh (8W-0L, 7KOs), the WBO Asia-Pacific titlist will have the crowd cheering for him in his twelve round bout against Chinas Zulipikaer Maimaitiali (8W-0L-1D, 6KOs), who holds the WBO Oriental belt.

"If he's going to fight aggressively then I will react accordingly", said Vijender of his left-handed opponent.

"I will show Vijender what Chinese are capable of", said the Xinjiang-native.

"Vijender will be surprised when I throw punches at him". "We have shown India time and again what China is capable of, it's time that Vijender too learns his lesson".

"These are just ways to try and play mind games with your opponent, what eventually happens is in front of the entire nation in the ring", the 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medallist said. He added, "I want to dedicate this win to India-China friendship!"

His trainer commenting on Vijender as a challenger, "I don't think Vijender knows Zulpikar as much as he thinks he does". I do meditation to stay calm and make sure that I don't get carried away.
