Trump's first Asia trip as president will take him to China, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Hawaii.

"[The president] will discuss the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific region to America's prosperity and security".

Actually, earlier this year, Trump chose to withdraw the USA from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal which raised many questions across the globe.

"He will also emphasize the importance of fair and reciprocal economic ties with America's trade partners", the statement read.

During his trip from 3 to 14 November, Trump will participate in a series of bilateral, multilateral and cultural engagements.

As part of efforts to reach out to key opinion leaders, Kim will meet with the former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in NY on Thursday to discuss bilateral trade and diplomatic issues, Seoul's commerce ministry said.

"Whether the United States and China can indeed find sufficient common ground on North Korea is probably the litmus test of the relationship right now", said Lindsey Ford, director of policy-security affairs at the Asia Society Policy Institute in NY.

The White House said that the United States wants complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and such a denuclearization should be verifiable and irreversible. Kim has responded by calling Trump a "mentally deranged USA dotard", and his government has threatened to conduct an atmospheric nuclear test, which would be the first the world has seen in 37 years.

Moon agreed, and added, "It is not realistic to say we will not have dialogue with North Korea until it denuclearizes when it already possesses a great amount of nuclear capability".

After calling North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, "Rocket Man", on Twitter and during his first address before the UN General Assembly earlier this month, Trump and North Korea sniped at each other with increasing intensity.

The North's sixth and largest nuclear test was conducted on 3 September and has launched various missiles in 2017, as it accelerates its programme, aimed at enabling it to target the USA with a nuclear-tipped missile.

China accounts for around 90 per cent of North Korea's trade, and the isolated state is highly dependent on Chinese oil imports.

China and the U.S. in the past month have increased diplomatic activities as both sides prepare for a reset in their relationship following a reshuffling of the leadership in Beijing in October and Trump's visit the following month. The trip is expected to be dominated by the North Korea nuclear threat.
