The Supreme Court deposed Sharif in July following an investigation into corruption allegations against him and his family, making him the 15th prime minister in Pakistan's 70-year history to be ousted before completing a full term.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that some advisers and ministers gave wrong recommendations to Nawaz Sharif as they only loved their designation.

Former prime Minister Navaz Sharif, who was dismissed by Constitutional Court in Pakistan, was re-elected leader of Pakistani Muslim League-Navaz party (PML-N).

President Mamnoon Hussain is likely to sign the bill, as a mere formality, later on Monday.

Pakistan Supreme Court had disqualified him from holding any public position.

The National Assembly on Monday passed the Elections Bill 2017, paving way for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to regain chairmanship of the ruling party.

The PML-N has also convened a meeting of its general council today and tomorrow to formally begin the process of re-electing Sharif as the party's president.

According to details, no candidate submitted nomination papers in contest of Nawaz Sharif as PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhary submitted nomination papers of Sharif. When tensions mounted the "Rangers' chief met PML-N leadership present and asked them to enter the court", the daily reported.

A previous election bill barred from office someone disqualified under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution, which was used by the courts to remove Sharif. The election of party president is a requirement by Election Commission of Pakistan that already last month issued notice to PML-N for failing to choose permanent successor of Sharif.

The Sharifs are facing the trial following orders by the country's Supreme Court after an investigation into documents leaked from a Panama law firm indicated that Sharif and some of his family members had undisclosed assets overseas.

Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-i-Islami and Awami Muslim League also opposed the bill, which was introduced by Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
