Saudi Arabia grants citizenship to Sophia the humanoid robot

ARAB NEWS, the "Middle East's Leading English Language Daily", has just reported that "Saudi Arabia Becomes First Country to Grant Citizen Ship to a Robot".
Sophia has become the first robot in the world to be granted Saudi Arabia's citizenship.
"I want to use my artificial intelligence to help humans live a better life", she said. "Good afternoon my name is Sophia and I am the latest and greatest robot from Hanson Robotics".
"You've been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies", Sophia told Sorkin.
Sophia is the most advanced of Hanson Robotics'robots, and has given numerous interviews as well as gracing the front cover of Elle Brazil.
While demonstrating her human-like abilities that has gone viral thanks to a video on YouTube, Sophia showed her angry and sad faces.
But the idea did not sit well with a lot of people, especially considering the nation that granted Sophia her title is the same country where women's rights are notoriously limited. The lucky form of not-quite-artificial intelligence is named Sophia, a Hanson Robotics creation who's undoubtedly scripted to the gills. "Don't worry, if you're nice to me, I will be nice to you". When asked whether robots can be self-aware and conscious like humans, and should they be, Sophia asked, "Why, is that a bad thing?".
While most reports saw it as a mere gimmick, and some criticized the Saudi government for apparently granting a robot more rights than Kafala workers or even women, there seems to be no appreciation for the many legal problems this could create, argues public interest law professor John Banzhaf. "Treat me as a smart input-output system".
While Sophia is happy with her citizenship, other have expressed concerns on Twitter about it.
Here she is back in 2016 saying she'll destroy all humans.
Sophia wants to get involved in designing smarter homes and building better cities for the future. There is no formal guideline for how to refer to artificially intelligent robots, indicating a gap in how we talk about personhood.
Users can check on the pets from work, monitor the front door while traveling, or look in on the kids' room from the kitchen. As it's powered by the cloud, Amazon claims this is a security camera that will continue to get more intelligent.
