According to an interview with Nicky Jam's manager, Smith is in Budapest with Nicky Jam putting the "final touches" on the Diplo-produced track.

The song marks a comeback for the American actor Will Smith, who was a popular hip-hop artist as part of a duo with DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince in the 1980s and 1990s, and then later on as a solo artist.

It will be Smith's first foray into the music scene since 2015 when he featured in Colombian band Bomba Estéreo's "Fiesta".

The U.S. men's team won't be playing in the World Cup, but there will be one distinctly American imprint on the tournament next month.

Pop star Era Istrefi, 23, is the least known of the trio, but made a major breakthrough in 2016 with her song 'Bonbon', which has over 500 million YouTube views.

This year's tournament will be held in Russian Federation from June 14th to July 15th, and according to multiple sources, Will Smith is on board to create the official anthem for 2018.

Before news of the World Cup song leaked out, Smith and Nicky Jam were already talking about each other on social media.

The World Cup is being held in Russian Federation for the first time this summer.

However Smith and co would be expected to perform their song at the opening ceremony.

For the 2014 World Cup in Brazil Pitbull linked up with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte for the official song "We Are One (Ole Ola)', while four years previous Shakira sang 'Waka Waka" for the South Africa edition.
