Surveillance video shows Junior being dragged outside the bodega while customers inside looked and him being stabbed multiple times before the men fled the scene.

"The stabbing murder of this young man is among the most brutal crimes I've seen in my 36yr career", NY police Chief of Department Terence Monahan said on Twitter, asking for tips on the killing.

Lesandro, who was known as Junior, was a sophomore at the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School, where officials said they were "heartbroken at the loss of our student, friend and classmate".

The gang that killed Guzman-Feliz say it was a case of mistaken identity.

"We have a unified focus that we will not tolerate gang activity, particularly anything as heinous as this crime", Chief Shea said.

A New York City community is searching for answers after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed by a group of men and left to die on the street after asking nearby police for help. He pleaded not guilty.

A source close to the investigation told PIX11 law enforcement is also speaking with someone in the Dominican Republic who may be connected to the killing. "But we are going to ask for the public to allow the judicial process to take its place and move forward in this case in a way that's just and fair for my client". "My client's family's hearts go out to the parents and the family of the victim". Four other suspects have been arrested by the New York Police Department but have yet to be charged.

The identities of the suspects and the charges they may face have not yet been announced.

Five male suspects were taken into custody Sunday for their connection in the brutal slaying of a 15-year-old boy in The Bronx.

The man who wielded the machete delivered the "death blow" to Guzman-Feliz, according to his mother. "They killed an innocent little child", Lesandro's mother Leandra Feliz said after arrests.

"I saw the video and I couldn't sleep for days", said another man who joined the crowd mourning the teenager.

Mayor Bill de Blasio arrived later along with a group of young NYPD Explorers, a group Guzman-Feliz was a part of, hoping to one day become a police officer. He can be seen re-entering the store, bleeding and badly injured, but as he slumps over the counter the worker refuses to help him and a customer can be seen gesturing for the teen to leave the store.

The NYPD and the Paterson Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment on reports of additional arrests made.
