'Cruel' tiebreaker knocks out Senegal

The first step takes into account number of points obtained, goal difference and goals scored in the group matches. The Red Devils are simply flexing their muscle offensively and showing just how skilled they are with the ball.

And because the two teams drew 2-2 when they played each other, they could not be separated through their head-to-head records. However, there was also a unusual sideline incident late in the match involving manager Adam Nawalka, that while not exactly illegal, would certainly seem to go against the spirit of the game. There's a lot to like about the form of Belgium right now and just how explosive this club has been in three matches.

According to Metro, incoming Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri is hoping to make Koulibaly one of his first summer signings if he does indeed take over at Stamford Bridge this summer.

While the fair play tiebreaker is far from ideal, it's likely better than what would have been the case had Senegal and Japan also been tied on yellow cards - the final remaining tiebreaker that Federation Internationale de Football Association has, in that case, is the drawing of lots.

African side Senegal, became the victims of the fair play tiebreaker, after they finished level on points with Japan in Group H. Japan has controlled the possession arrow in all three of its matches and has shown an improved offensive attack as of late.

Japan have now failed to score in five of their past six World Cup games against European opposition. Colombia had a slight edge in possession, but Senegal created more goal-scoring chances.

Senegal's World Cup is over due to discipline assigned by various referees at what probably seemed like inconsequential moments through the group stage.

"You've got to play them all to win".

Below are two groups of teams to be considered - with one surprisingly falling short of target and bowing out in the group stages; while the other are the overachievers who are living the football dream. "We know any team that reaches the last 16 is good, the 16 best teams in the world", he said.

"When you prepare a team you look at the upcoming game and are very focussed".

The group stages of the FIFAWorld Cup 2018 will come to a close on June 28, 2018 and the line-up for the round of 16 encounters are all but decided at this stage.

As it turns out, Japan and Senegal were ridiculously tied.

There's too much firepower here, and I don't mind laying the juice.
