Fortnite's 50v50 mode is back, Playground is hopefully coming soon

Fortnite players meeting at ‘the rocket’ for tomorrow’s first real time mystery event Fortnite Playground mode coming back TODAY? Fans given hope about LTM return

With more resources, every chest spawning in for every game, and the option to play together with friends with friendly fire and unlimited respawns, Playground Mode is the closest thing to a private practice lobby that Fortnite has offered so far.

After less than two hours online, Epic took the Playground mode offline as it began maintenance. The studio says that it'll provide an update on the mode when it's ready to go live. Even more so than if they did that in the regular modes, I mean, since your teammates' lives are literally the points you use to win.

MrPopoTFS on Reddit (a developer at the game) has clarified when we can see an update for Playground mode hit.

Three days later, Fortnite's Playground LTM is still AWOL. In a situation mirroring the ongoing difficulties in resurrecting Fortnite Playground mode and its promise of nigh-unlimited building, Epic Games announced earlier today that it would disable Final Fight ("the mode isn't quite where we want it to be") and re-enable trusty old 50v50 in its place... until it encountered some unexpected problems, resulting in a delay.

The preview for the article said: "Hey there, We're continuing testing on our matchmaking improvements and are still aiming to open the Playground LTM later today". Epic is now gearing up for another event, but you might only have one opportunity to see it live. "We've got multiple teams working to get this mode back into your hands so you can let your imaginations run wild", said Epic on Reddit.

Why is Fortnite Playground down?

"Playground LTM launch was VERY popular and the poor matchmaker was trying to create and allocate matches faster than it could keep up with, so a backlog built up".

As previously mentioned, the limited-time Playground mode also suffered from a series of issues following its launch and still hasn't returned to the rotation.
