Bolton appeared on CBS's "Face the Nation", where he declined to address a Washington Post report that said USA officials believe North Korea does not intend to give up its nuclear weapons.

However, his comments Sunday came just one day after NBC reported that they were told by more than a dozen us officials that North Korea is pushing forward with its nuclear program at multiple secret sites.

One U.S. official said the regime has stopped nuclear and missile tests but "there's no evidence that they are decreasing stockpiles, or that they have stopped their production".

John Bolton said top U.S. diplomat Mike Pompeo will be discussing that plan with North Korea in the near future.

Bolton said the US has developed a program that would enable a relatively rapid dismantlement of North Korea's arsenal if the Kim regime is cooperative.

Bolton said the U.S.is "going to try to proceed to implement what the two leaders agreed to in Singapore" and added that a public back-and-forth over the progress of talks is unhelpful in negotiations.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said he plans to meet with Kim to "flesh out" details of the nuclear disarmament promise, but has insisted the North Korean leader is serious.

The post of the USA ambassador to South Korea was vacant for more than a year after Trump took office in 2017.

The North last month blew up its aged but only nuclear test site at Punggye-ri - where it had staged six atomic tests - in a show of goodwill before the summit. Trump touted the agreement as a significant step toward peace in the world.

The findings support a new, previously undisclosed Defense Intelligence Agency estimate that North Korea is unlikely to denuclearise.

The US network, also citing intelligence officials, said North Korea's regime was readying to "extract every concession" from the White House rather than giving up its atomic arsenal. And by the way I really believe North Korea has a tremendous future.

Suspicions over North Korea's commitment to denuclearize has been growing as NBC News also reported over the weekend that Pyongyang has in fact recently been increasing fuel production for nuclear weapons at several hidden sites. We've seen how the North Koreans have behaved before.

"I made a deal with him".

"We gave nothing", he said.

The Washington Post reported on Saturday that USA intelligence officials have concluded that North Korea does not intend to fully give up its nuclear arsenal and is considering ways to hide the number of weapons it has. "I don't think anybody ought to have a case of the vapours over discussions we have in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation or the G7 versus discussions we have with Putin or Kim Jong-un. Then the elimination of sanctions, aid by South Korea and Japan and others can all begin to flower". "We had a very good chemistry".
